Love this track and can't wait to hear the whole album. The first gave me the awesome feel of Traditional and showing love and homage to the NY to the DMV. From the family prayer to memories lanes to bring in the New Years the right way! This first premiere track to vol 2 showing a bit of the hardships the struggle to wanna make that dream work. And yeah sometime we fall short. It wasn't enough... This year alone was a lot of hardships and hopelessness there. Deep track and awesome to see Wink!
Three stories, from three different people, with one commonality: no matter how hard they try - especially for the people that matter most - their efforts fall short.
This is the lead-off single from the forthcoming follow-up holiday EP, "Christmas at 7222, Vol. 2".
Left foot, right, I've been walking alone.
Flights from Eiffel to Rome,
and I invite you to roam with me.
Lights up, legs up, Wi-Fi, silence my phone,
my kite caught lightening.
Please call fireman when we start fighting.
You tell me I'm not brave enough.
You tell me I'm not paid enough.
You tell me I'm not saving up.
You tell me I'm not safe enough.
You tell me, baby I know.
Ooh, baby I know.
But, I'm dangerous.
You tell me, "Baby, I know."
COVID-19, protests outside of my home.
Relatives dying alone.
Feels like I’m all on my own - you feel me?
While all of this is happening, conversations in my dome,
are asking me constantly:
“Are you on the path that you’re supposed to be?”
These voices keep telling me…
You’re not brave enough.
They tell me you’re not paid enough.
They tell me you’re not saving up.
They tell me you’re not safe enough.
They tell me, but maybe I know.
Ooh. maybe I know.
But, I’m still dangerous.
They tell me, "Then baby, let’s go."
Adult’s swimming, in Hell’s Kitchen, thoughts drifting,
On selfish women, who channeling their inner Mel
Gibson, lethal weapon, scene is hectic, in
Retrospect I should’ve seen this, before the feature see but
We were destined, she’s redemption, from previous lessons,
She played the terrorist stunt double, see in the credits
Seen the ending see the hero left on scene like text get
Like Keenan in "Don't Be A Menace...",
hand delivered, still she don’t see the message.
I see the blessing, despite the bleak aesthetic,
You can fight for sake of the team, or be the Kevin,
Take your skill set, somewhere else, and be a legend....
This verse seems pathetic uh
I’m not sane enough to stay here
I’m not brave enough to stay here
You not shaping up, we fade here
Baby, I’m gone.
I understand that you’re saying what you’re saying ‘cause you
love me so.
But, understand that your words weigh a ton and it’s taking a toll.
It’s bad enough I cause so much pain on my own,
poor suffering soul.
So something’s gotta give, and I’ve decided that it’s better that I
let you go.
